Algorithm in pseudo code

  • There are three parallel sessions at two table tennis tables (A, B) and one badminton court (C).
  • Table A plays singles and Table B plays doubles; Court C plays doubles too.
  • One can only participate at one of the sessions A, B, C at each game slot, but it is allowed to switch to a different type of game after a break.

Table Tennis Singles rules at Table A

  • No warm up to give more people a chance to participate !
  • The ball has to go over the net and land on the other side of the table.
  • The serve must first bounce from the server's side of table before landing on the other side of the table over the net.
  • One cannot hit the ball until it first lands on the table.
  • One must bounce the ball back onto the opponent's side of the table.
  • If the ball is not bouncing back, one wins the point.
  • The winner of the 1st point serves;
  • One serves 5 times until the opponent serves;
  • Apart from the above basic rules, one has to say a word or a phase before hitting the ball. E.g., "I am", "Yijun", "working on", "software engineering", etc., a kudo is deducted otherwise.
  • Three kudos amounts to one point.
  • The first one who gets 11 points and at least 2 points higher than the opponent stays on the court to play against the next challenger.

Table Tennis Doubles rules at Table B

  • No warm up to give more people a chance to participate !
  • The team on each side is formed by two players;
  • The two players must play in turns;
  • The serve must first bounce from the server's side of the table before landing on the opponent's side of the table over the net, diagonally across the other side;
  • One cannot hit the ball until it first lands on the table;
  • One must bounce the ball back onto the opponent's side of the table;
  • If the ball is not bouncing back, one wins the point;
  • The ball will be tossed up to decide who will get the first serve;
  • One team serves 5 times until the opponent team serves;
  • Apart from the above basic rules, one has to say a word or a phase before hitting the ball. E.g., "I am", "Patrick", "working on", "multimedia", etc., a kudo is deducted otherwise.
  • Three kudos amounts to one point.
  • The first team that gets 11 points and at least 2 points higher than the opponent team stays on the court to play against the next challenger team.

Badminton Doubles rules at Court C

  • 1 minute for warm-up to avoid incident !
  • The shuttlecock has to go over the net and land on the other side of the court.
  • One has to hit the shuttlecock before it falls to the ground inside the court.
  • A shuttlecock is inside the court if it lies inside the outermost line of the rectangle (left/right), and the outermost line of the rectangle (backward).
  • The team on each side is formed by two players.
  • The two players must play in turns.
  • The serve must land on the other side of the court across the middle line and the inner line of the rectangle (backward).
  • One must hit the shuttlecock back onto the opponent's side of the court.
  • If the shuttlecock is not returned, one wins the point.
  • A shuttlecock will be tossed to decide on which team gets the first serve of the game.
  • Serving alternates on winning points;
  • Apart from the above basic rules, one has to say a word or a phase before hitting the shuttlecock. E.g., "I am", "Santi", "working on", "smart city", etc., a kudo is deducted otherwise.
  • Three kudos amounts to one point.
  • The first team got 11 points and at least 2 points higher than the opponent team stays on the court to play against the next chanllenger team.
