9 April 2002: I had invited Sonia Stanciu (Imperial College) to give a talk on this day, but she had to cancel because of illness. Sadly, she died only six weeks later. I had known Sonia since she started a PhD at Bonn University about 1991, and I will always remember her as a kind and friendly colleague and as a gifted scientist.
