Inverse problems. In particular medical imaging and theoretical aspects of magnetoencephalography (MEG). Also more general questions of methods of choosing regularisation parameters in Tikhonov regularization.
Quantum Optics. Mainly laser cooling and experiments on cold atoms or Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs).
Teaching mathematics/physics using new technologies. I have mostly written muultimedia CD-ROMs, but have also experimented with using Java for web delivery. For example I have written some Java applets which show the
normal modes of a water molecule using a simple mechanical model.
