I am currently in the third year of a three year research project concerned with the computer aided design of colour with special emphasis on colours in combination. The intention is to develop and evaluate techniques which will assist the designer in arriving at designs involving complex colour schemes.

My initial training was in fine art painting and after some years teaching art & design in a secondary comprehensive school I spent a year at Middlesex University on the MA in Computing in Design course run by CASCAAD now known as the CEA or Centre for Electronic Arts. This course mainly attracts students from a visual arts background but is unusual in that it adopts an algorithmic approach to the subject using ANSI C as the main vehicle for both teaching and project work. So this is how I come to be engaged in technical research but directed towards producing tools for aesthetic work. I have included a brief CV.
