David Hardcastle

I have a PhD in Computer Science from Birkbeck College at the University of London. The key research goal of my thesis was the use of automatically acquired semantic resources to drive creative natural language generation. I explored this and other threads of research in NLG and NLP in the context of an application called enigma which automatically generates cryptic crossword clues.

I am currently working as a Research Programmer in the Natural Language Generation Group within the Faculty of Maths and Computing. I previously worked for five years at CHP Consulting, an IT consultancy in London, and prior to that from 1996 I worked for the Depaul Trust as a nightshelter care worker and manager.
