Sarah Beecham  is currently a full-time research fellow at the University of Hertfordshire. She holds a visiting researcher position a the Open University. She was the full-time research fellow working with Juan Fernandez-Ramil on the CRESTES project at The Open University in the UK (grant no. GR/S90782). Prior to taking this post she held a research and part-time lecturer position in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire. In April 2004 Sarah was granted the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in recognition of her programme of work entitled: “A Requirements-Based Software Process Maturity Model”. Other work experience includes: Facilitating focus groups and analysis of qualitative data, supervising Master Students in Computer Science. In addition to estimation for software evolution and maintenance, Sarah’s particular research interests are in empirical methods in software engineering and requirements engineering. She has several academic publications and findings from her doctoral research have contributed to a number of journal publications and conference proceedings. A listing of her publications can accessed via the following link:  http://mcs.open.ac.uk/sb7892. To contact Sarah please e-mail: s.beecham@open.ac.uk.

Andrea Capiluppi is since early 2006 a lecturer at Lincoln University and has been a visiting researcher at the Open University since early 2004. He was a  contributor to the work the CRESTES project. He supported the work mainly by getting involved in the extraction of data from change log records from a variety of different case studies.

Andrea gained the PhD in Informatics and Systems Engineering (Dipartimento di Automatica e Informatica, Politecnico di Torino, Italy) in 2005. As part of his PhD studies, he worked since 2001 with Prof. Maurizio Morisio and Dr. Patricia Lago in the empirical analysis of Open Source systems. His main research interest is focused on empirical studies of open source software evolution. He also holds a BSc and Magister (Master) degree in Management Engineering (2001) from the Politecnico of Torino, Italy. He is associated to the recently created ERCIM WG on Software Evolution. A listing of his publications can be accessed via links at http://softeng.polito.it/andrea/pubs. To contact Andrea please e-mail a.capiluppi@open.ac.uk.

Juan Fernandez-Ramil was the principal investigator in the CRESTES project. He has been a Lecturer in the Dept of Computing, The Open University, Milton Keynes, UK, since Oct. 2001. From Nov. 1996 to Sept. 2001 he worked as a researcher at the Department of Computing, Imperial College, London, as part of  the UK EPSRC funded FEAST/1 and /2 projects His contributions are scattered in some 50 or so co-authored papers. As part of his PhD research at the Dept. of Computing, Imperial College he investigated resource estimation models derived from historical records of long-lived software. He is the course team chair for the master-level courses “Managing the Software Enterprise”.  He has been co-presenter of tutorials at the ICSM and ESEC-FSE conferences. From 1986 to 1995 he worked in the oil industry in a variety of projects. He holds a BSc degree in Electronic Engineering, first in his class, Cum Laude (1986) a Magister (Master) degree in Business Engineering (1993), both from the Simon Bolivar University, Caracas, and a PhD degree from Imperial College London (2003) for his research into estimation approaches for software evolution He has been PC member of a number of conferences and workshops in the software engineering area, including ICSE 2005 and ESEC-FSE 2005. He was a member of the executive committee of the Requirements Engineering Specialist Group of the BCS. He is associated to the recently created ERCIM WG on Software Evolution and was part of the ESF-funded RELEASE network. A listing of his publications can be accessed via links at http://mcs.open.ac.uk/jfr46. To contact him please e-mail j.f.ramil@open.ac.uk.
