Academic Duties

My current academic duties include:

  • Director of the postgraduate mathematics programme.
  • Postgraduate mathematics admissions tutor for the mathematics department.
  • Chair of M840 and M828.
  • I was involved in the production of MS324, MS325, M840, have tutored M833, and have been course director and tutor at MST207 and MSXR209 summer schools.

    Research Interests

My current research interest is in the area of spintronics, and involves the theoretical and computational modelling of magnetic multilayers and other nanostructures.

In particular, I am interested in electronic quantum effects exhibited by spin and charge transport through these structures. This includes magnetic exchange coupling, induced magnetic moment, various types of magneto-resistance behaviour, and magnetocrystalline anisotropy. See my Research Pages for further details.

Here is a link to my research publications.

My previous research experience includes density functional theory, and supersymmetry in higher dimensions.
